Route split into three routes: 1 ALLEGHENY VALLEY-EAST LIBERTY operating between Tarentum and East Liberty; 1L ALLEGHENY FLYER operating between Tarentum and Downtown; 5 ASPINWALL operating between Downtown and Waterworks via Etna, Cherry City, Millvale and East Allegheny.

9 McCandless – Oakland (New Route)

New route operating seven days a week between McCandless Park-and-Ride and Oakland via Passavant Hospital, McKnight Road, Babcock Boulevard, Millvale, Lawrenceville (40th Street) and Bloomfield (Main Street).

12 McKnight Road

Minor alignment change. Route would operate via Duncan Avenue from McKnight Road rather than Babcock Boulevard when approaching Passavant Hospital.

13 Bellevue

Route will operate via Pennsylvania Avenue in Manchester and no longer operate along lower California Avenue between Marshall Avenue and Brighton Road. Route will operate along Cedar Avenue serving AGH and Giant Eagle rather than the current route around Allegheny Commons.

Route extended into Downtown. Major alignment change between North Shore and Brighton Heights to provide service on Allegheny Commons, lower California Avenue, Marshall Avenue and Shadeland Avenue.

Alignment change between Ladoga Street and Crafton-Ingram Shopping Center. Route will operate via Middletown Road and Steuben Street rather than Berry Street and W Prospect Avenue.

28X Airport

Stop restrictions lifted and several major alignment changes. Route will no longer serve Fifth Avenue in Point Breeze and Shadyside, and will now serve Negley and East Liberty Stations on the East Busway. Route is extended to Carnegie Station. Major alignment change. Route, identified as 35 BOWER HILL-OAKLAND, will terminate at Raceway Plaza and no longer serve Vanadium Road or lower Bower Hill Road to Bridgeville. Route will be extended from Downtown to Oakland.

36 Banksville

Route shortened and retained as commuter service identified as 36L BANKSVILLE FLYER. Route will operate peak direction only between Downtown and Mount Lebanon Station, no longer serving Cedar Boulevard, Gilkeson Road or South Hills Village. Significant service reduction.

Route shortened and realigned from the Birmingham Bridge to South Side Works and will no longer serve central South Side, South Side Slopes, Mount Oliver, Knoxville, Beltzhoover or Bon Air. All trips will serve Polish Hill and no longer serve Penn Avenue and Main Street. Minor alignment changes in Allegheny West and Central North Side.

Route split into two routes: 55 GLASSPORT-McKEESPORT operating between McKeesport and West Mifflin Walmart; 66 HOMESTEAD-McKEESPORT operating between McKeesport and North Versailles Walmart continuing to the Waterfront. Route split into two routes: 59 MON VALLEY-HOMESTEAD operating between Homestead and McKeesport via current 59 route via some minor alignment changes; 66 HOMESTEAD-McKEESPORT operating between Homestead and North Versailles with numerous alignment changes and then on to McKeesport. 59 service to central Swissvale, Rankin, Corey Avenue, Ardmore Boulevard and Greensburg Pike is discontinued. Route is extended to East Liberty via Paulson Avenue and Larimer Avenue. Service on Grove Road, Chaske Street and Aber Road is discontinued. Service frequencies will increase on weekdays and Sunday.

81 Oak Hill

Major alignment change and route extension, to be identified as 81 MERCY HOSPITAL-OAKLAND-LAWRENCEVILLE. Route will no longer serve Downtown, Bedford Avenue, or South Side. It will operate between Mercy Hospital and Lawrenceville Shopping Center via Hill District, Oak Hill and Oakland via much of the current 81 alignment and then to Bloomfield and Lawrenceville via the current 93 alignment.

Hill District alignment change. Route will operate via Bedford Avenue to Crawford Street and no longer serve Devilliers Street and Centre Avenue. Inbound trips will operate via Bryn Mawr Road and no longer along Adelaide Street. In Oakland, route will only operate along Fifth & Forbes Avenues between Darragh Street and the Birmingham Bridge.

84 Wylie (New Route)

New route operating seven days a week from South Side to the Strip District via Oakland, Oak Hill, Hill District (Wylie Avenue) and Polish Hill. From 26th Street it will enter the East Busway to Penn Station and not directly serve the major Strip District food shopping area.

Route extended to serve Penn Hills via Frankstown Road as far as Penn Hills Shopping Center. 86 service to Wilkinsburg along Oakwood Street and Wood Street is discontinued. Some additional service frequency.

Route shortened and combined with current route 89 GARFIELD COMMONS. Route will remain as is current 87 from Downtown to Negley & Penn, then operate via Penn Avenue to Penn & Atlantic where from there it will continue to Bakery Square via the current 89 route. Service frequency will increase along current 89 segment. 87 service to Morningside, Stanton Heights and Lawrenceville is discontinued. See 75 Aspinwall – Oakland and 92 Stanton Heights.

  • Comment on the draft!
    There are lots of ways to comment on the BLR. The Bus Line Refresh is a massive, confusing proposal, and it can be hard to draft comments.
